Maisie Needed a Desk

It's so nice to be back and I am so glad you enjoyed the guest posts.Stanley really thinks he runs the place now,Lily has been so encouraged that we have a mini softie production line and Master Card is keeping his side of the bargain!

I have been steadily working through my 'to-do' list all through the summer holidays.Things move much more slowly with 4 children in tow but we have made some progress. One of the jobs was to find a desk for Maisie. After numerous fruitless trips to various charity shops I fell back on old IKEA.

We picked up a basic table and Maisie painted the legs with some left over paint.I covered the top with a piece of Lene Bjerre oilcloth, that used to be our table cloth.Following Samantha's advice we just staple gunned it to the underside of the top so it's easy to replace when needed. We also got a set of drawers and voila!

A perfect work space for my little high schooler and just in time for her first piece of homework! The chair needs another coat of Caths red and the shelves a few more treasures.

See that beautiful little girl? One of Maisies first carboot treasures.I took Lily and Maisie to their first  car boot during the hols and they took to it like ducks to water.Total pros, haggling like mad and getting freebies left right and centre.I was so proud!

Oh that is soooo cute! I want to do work there. What a blessed girl she is and how creative you all are!

Is a carboot like a swap meet? It sounds right up my alley. I just love the way you turned a mass-produced Ikea item into something beautifully unique!

is Maisie a doll lover?

Great desk, excellent idea.

What a pretty workspace! Hope it makes the homework a little more enjoyable.

What a great idea, and a fab transformation of a plain old table!

I bet it's so cosy there with the table lamp on, it might inspire even me to do some work!

That doll just took my breath away, it reminded me so much of the one my uncle bought me when I was four when my mum died, I loved my little black doll so much, mine had gold ear rings that tinkled when I turned over in bed. She was my constant companion for years, long may my darling Maisie enjoy her own doll, just love the desk too

What a perfectly devine little work space, sure to inspire such geniusness.I love the colours, the cosiness and the wallpaper.
Well done!

the desk looks fantastic, I love that whole pretty corner she has there, and what fun now looking for more things to fill up those shelves!

Such a girly desk, perfect and I love that doll.

IT LOOKS SUPER! And well done to the girls on their car booting.

A+ for the desk and workspace! Looks fantastic and I love the wall paper too. Ikea are great for desks, I got one for Harry not so long ago - but yours looks so much better than mine!

What a great study area! By the way, you've been tagged. Please visit my 9-9-07 blog entry for details! Take care!

I was of course going to comment, that I love love love this desk...just...love it.

Then, I was going to tag you, and then saw that you've been tagged for the same tag by somoene else! :)

So...apparently, its your turn!

The desk looks lovely! My little princess is currently negotiating for a desk. She wants white and I want pink, so since I'm the one painting the blooming thing I think I win! Hope Maisies work at the desk will be phenomenal!

This is absolutely adorable! Is there a website for the oil cloth ? I am having a very difficult time finding some that I like out here in Pa.
Thank you for your time,

pretty, pretty desk! wish I'd had something half as pretty when I was in high school!

I so love it and we have so much we share. The Ikea file, the wallpaper, I'm going to paint my desk blue now because I need a copy of this corner LOL!

Just a darling study nook - has your house been featured in a magazine yet? :)

Hi Kristy,
glad it helped - the deask looks beautiful!

Her new desk looks so lovely!

That's beautiful, I love it all.

Darling! So very sweet.

Did you seal the fabric with anything? I've been wanting to do something like this on my desk, but I wasn't sure how to go about it. I don't even know if "seal" is the right word, but I'm hoping you'll know what I mean. :)

This is the cutest place to work I have ever seen. I want to copy all of its style for ALL over my house, lol...
Congrats!
Oh, and please, could you tell me who's this pretty wallpaper???
